Thanks for this very helpful report. I had a similar experience. The enemy I've long had to face says you can't get any better. We must find a way.

Hey, got your email and all your post Memphis comments, you are such a proficient writer and i found all your "comments" humbling and so honest! I know that your hard work will pay off and i will continue to follow you. As someone once told me "bridge is not for the feint of hearts"! Being that i constantly want to improve as well and play so often sometimes i realize there are so many facets to the game and one needs to constantly be so focused on every move. It is so easy to get disappointed, frustrated and get lost in the clouds. Keep up the hard work and i know you will achieve your goals with Greg!

Thanks, Madeline. I'm going to be taking a long, hard look at what went right and wrong in Memphis and make a plan to adjust my training accordingly. That's the whole idea of this project—try some things and see what works!

Thanks for your support, and good luck on your leveling up journey!!

Please explain the various events you cite. What are, for example, the Silidor Pairs? You gave the relative difficulty, but how do these events differ? Why does ACBL have so many events? How did you choose?

The full tournament is 10 days long, and most of the events are 2 or 3 days long. So there are a lot of them. Usually there are only 1 or 2 starting at a time, so there's not much choice.

If you don't play in the Vanderbilt, the basic schedule is:

Tue/Wed Mixed Pairs

Thu/Fri Silodor Pairs

Sat/Sun Jacoby Swiss
