I had a great last few days of my trip in Michigan and an uneventful flight back to NYC. Now I’m on Cape Cod for the week before heading to Philadelphia for the ABTA Conference and the NABC.
I was supposed to see a play Thursday night, but canceled to practice with Greg. Dedication! I did see a show Friday night, which was great. Then I hopped a plane to Hyannis and spent the weekend with my mom. I actually get to spend her birthday with her this week! Unfortunately, her birthday usually falls during the summer NABC—I haven’t been able to celebrate it with her for years. But the NABC is a week later than usual this year, which means I get to take my mom out for her birthday!
Greg and I played a couple of set matches this week and some speedballs. Our notes are pretty much locked for Philly, so we’re reviewing things and making sure we’re comfortable with what’s there. Lots of Cuebids in the next couple of weeks! We’re also setting up as many games as we can before I leave on Monday. Thanks to all of you who offered to play with us!
I’m currently reading Bill Belichick’s new book, The Art of Winning. I have Boston roots, so I’ve been a Patriots fan for a long time and obviously enjoyed their great run of success under Belichick. I’m really enjoying the book. His writing style is simple and clear, and he focuses on a lot of the psychological aspects of leadership rather than the Xs and Os of coaching football. I’ll write up a full review when I’m done with it.
I’m also still working through Thinking Fast and Slow, which was recommended by Samantha Punch. It’s really long! But I’m enjoying it and seeing a lot of myself in it.
This week’s podcast is with Hall of Famer Bart Bramley. Bart has a lot of great insights and stories; it was hard to cut our conversation down to 40 minutes! I think you’ll enjoy it.
I encourage you to share your progress in the comments. We’re all in this together!!
Have a great week.

When you finish Thinking Fast and Slow, get Noise which is by the same author and his colleagues.
