I loved this episode. In my very first NABC in 2002, shortly after arriving in the US to begin my undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland, I played the LM Pairs with my dad. I remember making a good play against Geoff (who was partnering with Reese Milner). The contract was 3NT, and I held A10xx in dummy opposite Kxxx in hand. When I led low from dummy, Reese played the queen. After winning the king, I cashed the ace of diamonds, planning to return to hand and lead low toward the ten if Reese showed out on the ace. As it turned out, Reese held QJ doubleton, so I won four tricks in the suit. At the end of the hand, Geoff smiled and said, “Nice play.” That simple compliment meant the world to me.
Thanks. That was another excellent podcast Geoff and Adam.
If you're living in Las Vegas, should I refer you to next year's "Honoring our 'Veterans" tournament in the American Bridge Association's Western Section? I remember too many years ago when Billy Miller played with the late Chester Johnson (also in the Chicago Contract Bridge Association in District 13). Happy Thanksgiving!

It's such a little thing, but that compliment from a good player means a lot.
