Leveling Up Podcast Episode 1

Brian Platnick
4

As part of my Leveling Up project, I'm starting a podcast to record and share the conversations I have in my efforts to design a study program for reaching the next level of one's bridge game. I'm talking to world-class players about how they got to where they are and how they keep improving. I'm also talking to less experienced players who have been working hard on their game about what their regimen looks like. My guests will also include people with expertise outside of bridge—how we learn and what we can do to maximize our potential performance.

I’ve included the video here. You should be able to access the podcast wherever you normally get your podcasts. (If it’s not there, please let me know which provider you use and I’ll try to make sure it gets added.)

My first guest is Brian Platnick. Brian was one of the first top players to really take an interest in this project, and his enthusiasm and insights have been really valuable to me. I think you'll enjoy what he has to say.

Brian, of Evanston, IL is a graduate of Virginia Tech (BS & MS in engineering) and William & Mary School of Law. He has worked for the past 30 years trading stock options. He is a founding member, and current President of The EDGAR Association. Brian served as a member of both the Ethical and Online Oversight Committees of the ACBL and has worked on numerous cheating investigations.

As a bridge player, Brian has won 6 NABC+ events and attained the rank of World Grand Master after winning the 1991 World Junior Teams and 2010 Rosenblum.
